Wine Words from Bettane & Desseauve

Château Lécusse is a fine property located in the Gaillac region.
A wide range of wines, typical of this region, is produced here ; reds, whites, dry rosés, sweet and sparkling whites.
The châteaux's owner, who is Danish, has decided to feature the mention "Vin des Pyrenées" on his labels, rather than that of his appellation
(even though the Pyrennees Mountains are actually situated 200 kilometres from his town in the Tarn!).
This example provides food for thought :
if most of the French appellations correspond to a very limited geographical 'terroir', why should producers not be allowed to indicate a more global provenance - which is more universally well-known?

Wine is always an interesting subject to talk about. With a long history, and carefully chosen grapes, it's the favorite drink for many people around the world.
